As we prepare to downgrade to Level 4 of lockdown, we dare to dream of the day life will return to ‘normal’ and we can explore again. With that in mind, we’ve come up with some Dullstroom activities that top our list for first post-lockdown outings. Here are our choices;
Tee Off Time
One of our first adventures will be to some of the world-class estates near Walkersons Hotel & Spa for a round, or five, of golf. There’s nothing quite like making your way around a tee-reific course with friends. Some of our favourites include Highland Gate (the home of an Ernie Els signature course), Middleburg Golf Estate, and Lydenburg Golf Club.
Okay, so maybe we don’t have to go very far for this one but as we cannot re-open as a hotel just yet, there are no guests to enjoy our dams. Each and every one of our 14 lakes and dams are teeming with rainbow trout just waiting to be reeled in.
Hiking with a picnic
Although we may be allowed out for exercise in Level 4, a quick walk or cycle is just not the same as a leisurely hike with friends. Better yet, a hike with the promise of a tasty picnic. We recommend one of your first Dullstroom activities should be a peaceful walk to our waterfall with some bubbles and your favourite snacks for a blissful afternoon.
Imaging loping through the verdant hills surrounding Dullstroom on horseback – sounds like a recipe for relaxation to us! Whether you are a Zara Tindall of the equestrian world or a total beginner, the Dullstroom Riding Centre will sort you out with the perfect steed.
A Whiskey In Hand
Following South Africa’s lockdown alcohol ban, a tasting at Wild About Whiskey seems to be in order. Not only is it a fun, vibey spot but also home to the largest whiskey menu in the southern hemisphere – tell us you’re not tempted!
These will be our first stops in terms of Dullstroom activities as soon as they’re allowed! Of course, the second travel and hospitality are back in business, we invite you to join us at Walkersons Hotel & Spa to experience it all with us. Visit our website to find out more about our hotel and self-catering accommodation to start planning the perfect trip when the time comes.
