Dullies Dogs is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals in Dullstroom, offering medical care, and finding them new homes. They also run nutrition and disease prevention programs in Dullstroom and nearby areas, assisting pet owners who can’t afford treatment for their sick or injured animals. Their goal is to establish a local rescue shelter with veterinary facilities to reduce the suffering of animals in need. To achieve this, they’ve initiated a fundraising campaign, beginning with a Golf Day event on September 27, 2023, at Highland Gate Golf Course.
The team at Walkersons Hotel & Spa are happy to support this incredible initiative and encourage others to support them in providing vital care for animals in their region.
About Dullies Dogs
Dullies Animal Rescue, trading as Dullies Dogs, operates as a registered NPC and is currently in the process of registering as an NPO. Their mission revolves around rescuing animals in need, providing necessary medical treatment for injuries and illnesses, and subsequently facilitating their rehoming. They also manage a feeding and dipping program in Dullstroom and the surrounding areas aimed at mitigating diseases stemming from inadequate nutrition and tick- and flea-borne ailments. Animal owners residing in Dullstroom and its vicinity, unable to care for their animals, reach out to Dullies Animal Rescue when their pets fall ill or sustain injuries.
The organization takes on the responsibility of arranging transportation to veterinary facilities and covering the associated treatment costs. Additionally, they conduct sterilization campaigns with the objective of sterilizing a significant number of dogs and cats, thereby curbing the proliferation of unwanted puppies and kittens.
Aspirations
The organization’s aspiration is to acquire a property and establish a rescue shelter equipped with veterinary facilities. Currently, the closest veterinary care centre is located 55 kilometres away in Lydenburg. When confronted with injured or sick animals, they often struggle to secure transportation, along with escalating transportation expenses. Swift action is imperative in these situations, as they are typically called upon when animals are already severely unwell or injured. Consequently, the presence of local veterinary facilities in Dullstroom would alleviate the suffering of numerous animals.
Golf Day at Highland Gate Golf Course
To materialize this dream, Dullies Animal Rescue has launched an extensive fundraising campaign. Their inaugural event is a Golf Day scheduled for Wednesday, 27th September 2023, at the renowned Highland Gate Golf Course. The event will feature a Better Ball Stableford format. Participation options include an entry fee of R4,400 for a four-ball team or R1,100 for an individual.
The entry fee encompasses two caddy carts per fourball, entry into the competition, automatic participation in the Hole-In-One competition on hole 7, a meal, a drink at the halfway house, and attendance at the prizegiving ceremony, which includes dinner.
