Taking place from 8 – 10 July this year, the Dullstroom Winter Festival is transforming into an intimate arts festival of sorts. For the first time in the history of this popular festival, it will take place in the second week of July, and will consist of various small events showcasing local South African music.
Established in 2011, this iconic event attracts hordes of people from across the country to the quaint Mpumalanga town. While previously the Winter Festival has been known to feature fly-fishing competitions, mountain bike races, trail runs and more, the focus this year will be on music, the gorgeous venues, and the well-known hospitality of Dullstroom.
Highlights of the musical line-up in store this Dullstroom Winter Festival include soulful local superstar Matthew Mole, Georgetown Band – the folksy trio from Pretoria, and the up-and-coming singer/songwriter Gerald Clark.

With a vast array of activities, shops and restaurants, there will be plenty to keep festival-goers busy when they’re not enjoying the live entertainment. Some of the enticing restaurants and pubs on offer in town include Anvil Ale, Dullstroom’s only brewery, the well-known Harrie’s Pancakes, the historic Dullstroom Inn, and the jovial Duck & Trout restaurant.
Activities to partake in range from a bout of fly-fishing at one of the many dams and lakes in Dullstroom, and trying your hand at abseiling or rock climbing, to 18-holes at a nearby golf course, and horse riding along a stunningly scenic mountain trail.
