The festive season is just the most wonderful time of year, when we get to indulge in good food, be surrounded by our closest friends and family, and wander around a Christmas market or two.
The quaint village of Dullstroom is a special place to spend Christmas – take a look at some of the events happening this December.
Dullstroom Station Christmas Market | 17 December
09h00 to 18h00
Don’t miss the Dullstroom Station Christmas Market on the 17th for potjiekos from 11am as well as hand-made gifts, furniture, craft stalls, coffee and oodles of yummy food. Bring your family to enjoy the great variety of food on offer and enjoy a refreshing cool drink at the historic Station Pub next door.
Critchley Lifestyle Centre Christmas Market | 17 December
For the first time, ever, Critchley Lifestyle Centre is hosting their very own Christmas market!
You don’t want to miss out on this one for a variety of gifts, wine tasting and craft beers. This is the perfect event to get into the Christmas spirit and finish off that last-minute shopping.
Christmas Carols at The Dullstroom Inn | 24 December
Christmas-time doesn’t totally feel like Christmas-time until you’ve sung along to a few age-old carols. This year The Dullstroom Inn will be holding Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve from about 17h00. Bring along the little ones, light a candle and feel the spirit of Christmas, the Dullstroom way.
Father Christmas Delivers Gifts at The Village Green | 25 December
Every year at Christmas-time, Dullstroom is treated to a truly special occasion thanks to Stephen De Meyer, co-owner of Mrs Simpson’s, and his helpers.
Each Christmas morning, ‘Father Christmas’ (played by Stephen De Meyer) makes his way around town on a tractor – or donkey cart – delivering presents to children around town. Mr. De Meyer’s round-town trip ends off at the local Epilepsy Welfare Centre where gifts are given out to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, who often can’t afford presents. Donations from across the village of Dullstroom cover their presents and a Christmas meal, which is served at The Dullstroom Inn.
