Double Delight Rose (Rosa ‘Double Delight’)

Rosa ‘Double Delight’ is a stunning hybrid tea rose renowned for its captivating beauty and exquisite fragrance. Its petals boast a striking blend of creamy white and velvety pinks, creating a visual spectacle reminiscent of a watercolor painting. The fragrance is equally enchanting, with sweet, fruity notes that linger in the air, enticing guests at the hotel to pause and indulge their senses.

Orange Watsonia (Watsonia pillansii)

Rough Blue Sage (Salvia chamelaeagnea)

Salvia chamelaeagnea, commonly known as Rough Blue Sage, is a species of sage native to the rugged landscapes of South Africa. True to its name, this perennial herb has rough-textured foliage and striking blue flowers which captivate the eye. The intense coloration of its blooms serves as a magnet for pollinators, attracting bees and butterflies to the garden in a delightful flurry of activity.

Purple Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea)

Digitalis purpurea, or Purple Foxglove, is a gorgeous biennial with towering spires of tubular blossoms. Sporting hues ranging from deep violet to soft lavender, each flower’s delicate appearance which belies its toxic nature. This garden plant contains digitalis and other cardiac glycosides which can affect the heart, although recorded poisonings are very rare.

Despite its poisonous reputation, Purple Foxglove is also revered for its medicinal properties, with extracts from its leaves used in traditional remedies. In the garden at Walkersons, these purple blooms are easily spotted, their presence evoking a bygone era of mysticism and folklore.

Hydrangeas (Genus Hydrangea)

Arguably our favourite flower in the gardens at Walkersons, these deciduous beauties are characterized by large, showy flower heads, which range in color from soft pastels to vibrant shades of blue, pink, and purple.

Eastern Candelabra (Brunsvigia radulosa)

Brunsvigia radulosa, also known as the Eastern Candelabra, is a bulbous plant native to the grasslands of South Africa. Renowned for its striking inflorescence, this species produces tall flower stalks topped with clusters of orange and scarlet blooms. Each fiery blossom radiates warmth in a garden of pinks and pastels, creating a captivating display that indicates the arrival of spring.

Despite their short lifespan, the Eastern Candelabra’s bold silhouette is as a testament to the untamed beauty of the natural world and a very rewarding flower for keen gardeners to grow.
